Dear Walking Buddies....

My Lovely BPS ladies.

We really should come up with a clever name for ourselves.

The dogs and I have been walking most mornings still, with Dear Hubby in tow. So he keeps us occupied.
As I'm sure you know, the weather has been pretty dismal for the last few days. Windy, rainy, and almost no sun to speak of. This morning, the wind was blowing, but no rain. So off we go ( and on time too!) 7:30 on the dot.
Cat Alley has been over run with Night Herons out hunting crabs.
( For those who don't know, I've dubbed one section of our walk route Cat Alley because of the regular sightings of feral cats. So the dogs are always on high alert mode as we approach that particular area)

I guess with it being so dark and gloomy lately the herons are doing overtime. The dogs are not fussy about the entertainment, apparently. Herons are just as exciting as that spot of orange disappearing into the bush.

So that was diversion numero 1 for me today. I guess I got bored pretty quickly though, so this is what happens to me when I don't have someone there to keep me focused on the Task At Hand.
oooooh look at the pretty flowers!

Oh the shame!

Durr! K I'll Play
I did not subject Ari to diversion numero 2. I should have though, the pink looks so purdy on black fur! He would have given me a niiiice poop face Hahaha. I think Layla would put up with any crap I do if she's the center of attention. She actually liked having a party hat on her head for Splash's birthday party

Two girl-y girls
There I go getting distracted again!

 WE MISS YOU GUYS!

No, I Insist!

I had a strict, no begging, no doling out of tidbits rule at the dinner table. Really I did.
The chinks in my rock solid resolve came with Dear Hubby's flagrant breaking of the rules when it came to snacks. All bets are off when the snacks come out.  *sigh*  The dogs will beg shamelessly for a piece of popcorn or peanuts. I have to be the voice of reason when Dear Hubby is draped in dogs watching every piece travel from hand to mouth.
Hey!!!
Dear Hubby laughs while dogs back off to a polite distance. Then somehow I am lulled by those mesmerizing eyes and wiggly tails....and start sharing snacks too!

Oh Geez

This is it. The beginning of the end.
Now I've always shared tidbits from my plate....but, BUT it happened in the kitchen, not at the table.
Lo and behold, I start sharing tidbits from my plate.

Just occasionally.

What was I thinking???

O.K. sooo I finally come to my senses when I realize that it's happening every day. And now, I've created a monster ^^^ see above cute doodlehead? He Is No Dummy. If there is nothing left on the plate to share, most dogs would then just give up......... he will stage a strike in the kitchen....... where the leftovers are sitting waiting to be put away.

Good thing he's not a surfer dude

Kai is only there because it was time for their last exercise of the day, and she always goes to find Ari when it's time to go out. I realized he had been sitting there for the last thirty minutes, waiting for someone to hand him a tidbit......

Dude....give it up 'znot hapnin'

Who's Who

I can't remember how many times over the last couple of years I thought I should give blogging a try. I've even voiced that desire to friends, who have encouraged me to give it a go.

But.....still I hesitated.

That's me though....(plant biggest procrastinator sticker on forehead)

Not only that, I'm a bit of a wallflower....o.k. very much so. Putting myself out there on a Blog! eek! Scared the heebie jeebies out of me.

So, I always talked myself right out of the whole idea. Anywho....here we are. I decided to get my butt in gear, and just get started....

I always knew the main theme would be the dogs ( there is no earthly way I would write a blog just about me)!.... There wouldn't be enough interesting stuff to write about. Dogs are endlessly entertaining after all......

And here they are! My little pack.

Ari
Me and ma BALL *squish squish*

Ari is a four year old rescue. Most likely an Aussie mix. he's the first "big" dog ( he's medium sized) I'd had in a very long time. As my little Chihuahua's got older, I said that my next dog would be an agility dog. I got my wish with this guy when he showed up at my door almost four years ago. I wanted him the moment we met.
I am about as wrapped around a dogs paw as one can get......but it's all good, because it's a mutual thing.
My Dear Hubby thinks he can do no wrong in my eyes...haha. Actually Ari would rather DIE than do something wrong. ( that excludes a certain habit I can't seem to break any of my dogs out of...catcrack...erm crap...feral cats no less...so, nice and full of all sorts of nastiness) nodoggy is perfect, moving on......
He loves fetching (especially on the beach), agility, long walks, and going everywhere he can with me.

Kai
Why yes, I think I am smart enough to read

Kai is a three year old Cattle Dog/ Rat Terrier mix. She is small like the Terrier with the Cattle dog coloring. I talked Dear Hubby into bringing her home because I thought Ari should have a buddy to play with. She fit into our family perfectly. Like other Cattle Dogs, she is aloof with strangers. You really have to earn her trust.
It's a different story, however, when my two legged daughter comes to visit. Kai worships the ground big sister walks on. In fact she melts into Golden Retriever Mush Brain OMGERD! I LUVS YOU! I WILL GIVE YOU ONE MILLION KISSES EVERY TIME YOU LOOKS AT ME! ( Don't get me wrong, I like all dogs, but they're not my cup o tea )
Sheesh. I'm embarrassed for her Cattle dogedness.
She's a fan of all that good stuff listed above. She also has a funny habit of jumping on Dear Hubby when I am preparing their dinner. If she can knock the wind out of him when he's sitting on the couch....all the better.

Layla
I am cute, and I will take over!

Layla is one year old, and a rescue Royal Bahamian Potcake. She wasn't a planned addition to the household....but really....who could resist those eyes??
Her number 1 agenda is to rule the house. She does not believe she should be number 2 bitch. Uh Oh. Luckily her number 1 person is not clueless, so with a small amount of management, she is content to leave things in the planning stage at the moment.
She is a LOW energy dog, so that helps. When I picked a puppy out of the litter of eight, I asked which one was the most laid back. At the time, she had already picked me, and was sitting at my side staring straight into my eyes. O.K, that settled that. She got what she wanted.....and she still tries her best to have her way, even if that means walking the fine line between cute naughtiness and getting in trouble.
She is my cuddle bunny, and gives the best hugs. Her favorite place to chill is fully sprawled out under the coffee table.
